GEOGRAPHIC AND HISTORICAL REFERENCES
This wine has been known
since the remote times.
The legend narrates that already in 1167 Federico Barbarossa could
appreciate it when, in the siege of the town of Ancona, he chose like his
own dwelling the Castle of Morro d' Alba.
This wine is obtained from an
ancient vine , just the Lacrima, that it was traditionally " married to " to the elm tree and to
the maple tree and it was cultivated in the hills sourrounding Morro d' Alba.
The
Lacrima has risked to pay at a high price some politic laws: it was about
to disappear if some defender-estimative people had not taken part in the
topic in order to make it recognize as a DOC wine.
The future of the
Lacrima, according to the experts, is rosy. It is produced in a narrow
territory on the North of the Esino river, in the medium and coastal hill of
the province of Ancona.
It embraces the territory of the municipalities with
Morro d'Alba at the center giving its name to the wine. The bottom
of the valleys and the hills near the Senigallia seafront are excluded.
It
embraces about 6 municipalities.

COUPLING WITH FOODS
The delicate and pleasant structure of the wine
allows couplings with first plates with sauce and ragł, with the
traditional regional plates, with appetizers of pickled blue fish or large
carp with the same wine, with second plates of white meat.
When leaving to mature in
oak barrels it can be coupled together with strong plates. "La Lacrima"
, in its amiable and sparkling type, reveals itself as an optimal wine for
the end of meal. |

VINES
It is obtained with grapes coming from
vineyards composed of native vines, the only one in this zone, known as
the Lacrima.
Grapes of Montepulciano and Verdicchio can concur to its
production, alone or jointly, never in measure overpassing 15% of the total.
ORGANOLEPTIC
FEATURES

intense with purply shadings in the first period.
BOUQUET: full-bodied, fruity with residual of vinosity. It reminds red
fruits, underbrush too, and red and white flowers.
TASTE:
Dry and savoury, body important enough tending to
mellow , it
proposes the vinous-fruity spurs turning to the floral ones after the first
year.
ALCOHOLIC CONTENT: total minimum 11° C.
TOTAL ACIDITY: 5 per thousand minimum.
DRY EXTRACT: 22 per thousand.
OPTIMAL AGE
It is a wine to be
drunk new. It can moderately be aged (2-3years). With its maturation the scent and the
characteristic fruity taste are transformed in a floral one, with
sensations of broom, strawberry-tree, heather and bilberry.
WINE-GLASS AND SERVICE
Goblet of medium amplitude and
spherical tendency, uncolored, smooth and very thin, with long stem.
A more tapered to the edge goblet for a mature wine.
The softness of the wine
allows the service around 15°C. It's necessary a higher temperature (16°-18° C) for a more tannic wine and for that wine
whose body has reached a maturation of two, three years. |
